The school was established in 1980 and is located in Manhattan, New York City, New York.   
All potential high school students must be entering their Sophomore year of high school. Majority of Bonsai Academy's college students graduated from the Academy's high school. There are a few exceptions to college students who have not gradated from the Academy's high school. It is usually difficult for any student that did not graduate from the Academy's high school to keep up with the Academy's college.
